The Allahabad High Court has granted major relief to Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal, Zia-ur-Rehman Barq, by staying the proceedings of a trial court in connection with an alleged violation of the Election Model Code of Conduct during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for December 8.

The order was passed by a single-judge bench of Justice Sameer Jain on Monday.
The court has also sought responses from the state government and other respondents on the next date of hearing.
The petitioner had challenged the summons order issued by the ACJM Court, Moradabad, in connection with the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2024 general elections.
An FIR in this regard was lodged at the Bilari police station in Moradabad on April 25, 2024.
